the art of
SURFING
Surfer and photographer, Aaron Chang, has turned
his
love of the ocean into a world-changing business.

Aaron Chang has had the opportunity to see the world through his
own lens, by having the good fortune of traveling throughout over
40 countries. “My life is a testimony to the American dream. I come
from a humble background, from a family of modest means living in
a small California beach town. I pursued my passions, and with hard
work and perseverance, I’ve achieved a life of extraordinary experiences”.
As a kid, Chang fell in love with surfing and has focused on that
dream ever since. “The ocean has a unique way of transmitting energy.
Captured and transformed into waves, this energy creates a connection
between God and your soul. I still get goose bumps in the presence
of the power and beauty of perfect surf”. Chang has successfully
turned his life’s love into a way to give back to his community
and the world. “When the opportunities to give back present themselves
to me, I choose to do all that I can”. Chang is a founding board
member of the Follow the Light Foundation, a non-profit created
in memory of Larry Moore. Moore was his friend and photo editor
at Surfing magazine. What makes Chang tick is a love of learning.
“Photography is a perfect endeavor forme. It has an endless learning
curve and touches on all aspects of life. Good photography is a
balance between left and right brain functions that challenge you
both technically and artistically”. Another a large part of his
learning right now is parenting. “The most important achievement
in my life will be raising twohealthy, happy and productive boys”.
In terms of what drives Chang, he responds “It’s not normal. Something
inside of me tells me if I focus on it, I can achieve it. It’s part
of my culture”. So what does the future hold for Chang ? “I feel
like I have finally achieved an understanding of my skills as an
artist. Now it’s time for me to deploy them for higher causes other
than my own” he says. We have absolutely no doubt that whatever
Chang puts his hands to will be successful.
